Past Players

This page, gives you, the fans the opportunity to leave me a comment at the bottom of the page to talk about players of Derby’s past. When you have posted the players name and stuff you remember about them I will research and give his career details. I will put the information on this website so that you can read and look at the information. If I can’t find any information I am very sorry and will let you know on here. So keep checking for updates!

Carbonari

Horacio Carbonari

Position: defender
Rams career: 1998-2003
Derby’s former record signing cost £2.7 million from Argentinian club, Rosario Central. Will be remembered most for scoring against Forest. Left the club in January 2003 by mutual consent.

Roger Davies

Position: Centre forward
Rams career: 1972-1980
Roger Davies joined Derby from Southern League Worcester City in September 1971 for £12,000, although it was with Preston that he made his League debut when on loan. After returning, Davies, who had been in the Central League winning team in 1971-2, began to force his way in.

He scored a spectacular hat-trick in the great FA Cup replay recovery at Tottenham and was sent-off in the European Cup semi-final second leg against Juventus after reacting to provocation.

Davies was a regular member of the 1974-5 Championship-winning side and that season he scored all five goals against Luton at Derby.

In August 1976 Davies signed for Bruges for £135,000, helping them to a Belgian League and Cup double, and then joined Leicester.

Between two spells in the North American Soccer League, Davies returned to the Baseball Ground but could do nothing to stave off relegation from Division One.

Certainly was a character! Tall and Lean was big Rog….scored 5 against Luton once and could have had a few more but for 2 disallowed goals. Scored a hatrick in an amazing cup tie v Spurs.

    Fav Rams player.

    Horacio Carbonari-

I love Igor Stimac but what a player Carbonari was. Great in defence and going forward he was one of Jim Smith’s best ever signings. But the reason why he will he is a Legend imo is his goals against Forest. Especially the winner he scored against them at Pride Park, What a Legend. Would love to know where he is now

  4. John Richardson (The Ram) Says:

A Great player and character, I had the pleasure of seeing him score the classic hat trick in the 5-3 win at WHL against Spurs in 1973 – that night game is still recognised as one of Derby’s greatest ever come backs and Cup victories. Roger was a great bloke and player!

  5. GreenRam Says:

Roger Davies still works in Derby at Rolls-Royce! What a legend!
